Andale! Andale! Arriba! Arriba!

What a busy day we had today! First off, Madeline and Eli woke up at 4:30 this morning. Thankfully, they went back to sleep until 7:00. Then, after their first nap, we headed to Chick-Fil-A to grab some lunch. After that, we went over to my friend Kelley's house to meet her precious baby and Madeline and Eli's new friend, Carter. Holding him made me realize just how much my little babies have grown! He felt like a feather, and my babies were even smaller than that when they were born. Amazing!

Moving on, we made our way over to Publix. Speaking of how much these babies have grown, so has their appetite! I realized after lunch that all I had to feed them was one Banana Mixed Berries serving and half a bottle of grape juice, which was obviously not going to cut it. We stocked up at the grocery store and even picked up something new... meat! I went for the Vegetable Beef Dinner and the Sweet Potato and Turkey Dinner. I'll let you know how they go over.

Later, the four of us went out for our second ever family dinner - another round of Mexican. I had the camera this time...

Madeline and Eli decided to keep with the dinner theme and wrapped up the day by doing their best impressions of Mexican Jumping Beans...

Who Needs a Seat Belt?

Two hands and a mouth... what more security can you need?

Also, an update on the piano... we are learning to share. I'm so glad we only have one each of the big toys because it helps us teach Madeline and Eli how to share. I don't think they would ever learn if we had two of everything!

My Husband the Handyman

What do you do when you love fires, but you buy a house without a fireplace? When you are good with a saw and a hammer like Brandon is, you build your own! Here are some pictures of our new fireplace and TV nook downstairs.

Speaking of Daddy, here's another good picture...

In case you haven't noticed, our children love being naked. They can't wait until it's warm enough to be in nothing but their diapers 24/7... sure would make for less laundry for Mommy!

Rainy Day

Last night, we were unable to see the lunar eclipse because of all the clouds over Birmingham. Those clouds brought rain all day today. While good for the drought, it caused us to have to stay home all day. Madeline and Eli got some good play time in though. They're getting really good at sitting up on their own. Here's a little glimpse...
Can you tell who's the boss??

Madeline and Eli also got to feed themselves a bit today. I think they did pretty well. Here are some pictures...

Lunch Date

Today Madeline, Eli and I met Daddy at Jackson's in SOHO for lunch. Madeline was a little fussy as we were nearing naptime, so she spent the time in Daddy's lap. Apparently the squash and crackers she had for lunch didn't satisfy her, because she kept reaching for her Daddy's ham and cheese sandwich.

Eli was (as he almost always is) in a great mood and spent the time sitting in the stroller and laughing at me trying to eat his fingers. He's so sweet! You can also see why his new nickname is "Spikey". His hair stands on end and it is so cute that I dread it growing out and laying flat. We may have to introduce some hair product when that happens...

It's also worth noting that yes, Madeline and Eli go everywhere in their pajamas. It's just easier (and warmer) that way.

Too Early for Piano Lessons?

Madeline LOVES the piano that Santa brought for Christmas. You might even say that she's obsessed with it. It is her absolute favorite thing to do. She really "plays" the piano, concentrating very hard as you can see below. She also recently started dancing (bobbing her head from side to side) when she stands beside it. Eli likes to play the piano also, but he's not quite the maestro that his older sister is. He more beats up on the piano than plays it, cute nonetheless.

Margarita Milestone

Well, the Rooks family has hereby joined the Blogging world. So many of our friends have created their own pages, and we love keeping up with everyone through them, so we figured we'd go for it too. No, if our friends jumped off a bridge, we wouldn't jump also, but we feel this might be an okay thing to copy. Basically, this blog will serve as a means to document the developments in our sweet babies' lives. Our twins, Madeline and Eli are now seven months old and growing up so quickly!

Our newest milestone occured on Friday when Mommy, Daddy and Madeline and Eli all went out to dinner together. Before we became parents, Brandon and I used to go out to eat Mexican just about every Friday night. This Friday was the first time in probably 10 months that we have been. It was wonderful! Madeline and Eli were so well behaved. They snacked on sweet potato puffs while Mommy and Daddy enjoyed margaritas, chips and cheese dip and tacos. I plan to do a better job of keeping my camera on hand at all times. Wish we had gotten a picture!
